¿Destruction or conservation? The mural work of José Renau in Mexico and Germany
Abstract
The process of the rescue, restoration and reinstallation of the murals by José Renau will be analyzed: Spain to America located in the old Casino de la Selva in Cuernavaca, Mexico and Nature, man and technology located in the former Cultural and Leisure Center in Erfurt, Germany -emphasizing the latter-, with the purpose of identifying the similarities and differences that occurred in said process in both countries, as well as the social and cultural relevance of the works, the contributions they gave to Mexican muralism and the Actions taken by the Mexican and German governments for the conservation of both murals in the 21st century. Based on the above, this research will make a significant contribution to historiography in relation to the conservation and protection of Renau’s mural work in Mexico and Germany as part of the cultural heritageDownloads
