The Young Christian Students (YCS) in the Lasallian schools of the North Mexico District, 1961-1966
Abstract
This article demonstrates that the Brothers of the Christian Schools introduced specialized Catholic Action through the model of the Catholic Student Youth (YCS) to their Mexican schools, and reconstructs the first moments of this movement in the Lasallian District of North Mexico, between 1961 -1966. To do this, use is made of the magazines La Salle en México and La Salle en México Norte, from the library of the Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Interdistrict Novitiate in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. Thus, a description is offered of the way in which the jecist groups and their guidelines were organized. Subsequently, the beginnings of specialized Lasallian Catholic Action are discussed, ending with data on the First Conference of Leaders of the JEC in 1963 (which took place simultaneously in four regions) and some events after this date.Downloads
