Abstract

In recent years, trade between the Philippines and China during the 16th and 17th centuries has increasingly attracted the attention of Chinese academic circles. Also, research on the circulation of American silver is also increasing. This article orders and explores the processes and effects that led American silver to condition Chinese trade and the domestic market. The impact of the silver introduced in China was enormous, allowing and conditioning the characteristics of the monetary reform implemented by the Ming dynasty.
