Abstract

The aim of this article is to study through documentary evidence the process of water contamination in the oasis norte of Mendoza from the beginning of the industrial development (turn of the 19th century) until the present time, to explain the causes of the present environmental deterioration and, to propose an alternative water management. Besides, the evolution of social representations on water contamination has also been analyzed.
