Facetas de la interacción con los animales en Cuba durante el siglo XIX: los bueyes en la plantación esclavista y la Sociedad Protectora de Animales y Plantas

Abstract

The studies of Cuban history give little attention to the importance of the animals for the human life, before the ascent of the economy based on the use of fossil fuels and industrial machines. As we go back in the time, this lack of attention is more difficult of sustain, even after the introduction of the steam machines and the railroad. This paper offers two examples of the 19th century that shows the necessity to stress the attention to this subject and its interest for the historical studies.
