Génesis del nacionalismo militar. Participación política y orientación ideológica de las fuerzas armadas argentinas al comienzo del siglo XX

  • Riccardo Forte

Abstract

The article analyzes the relationship between the affirmation of the nationalist ideology and the strengthening of the military as a political player in the Argentina of the beginning of the twentieth century. This relationship is examined from the basis of the interaction among three elements: a) the political-institutional crisis the country underwent after the financial blow of 1890: b) the tension between the principles of the Argentine political culture of the day and the specific values of military training, and c) the particular process of professionalization of the Argentine officer corps. According to the author, the combination of these three elements encouraged the rapid incorporation of nationalism by the officer class and its ability to impose itself on the spreading of the class's own values.
